南昌东湖意库前身为江西省外贸储运公司，是非常赋有历史的记忆，同时又承载了很多历史痕迹的一个园区，园区由一条货运铁路贯穿其中，园区内保留了许多富有历史价值的特色建筑、龙门架、货物运输轨道、月台等。

整个园区的规划设计以保留改造为主，以场地原有的铁道轨迹作为整个设计的空间轴，沿着轨道从南到北讲述了从过去走向未来的空间设计理念，利用场地原有的空间场景特色用现在的手法将体验者带入到过去的这种场景感受中来，让人在参观使用的过程中能更深刻的感受到场地历史的记忆，打造既能符合新的功能需求使用的空间，又能保留场地原有的历史特色文创活力特色园区。
